Adam Paterno, lay minister, husband and father, uses scripture to manage symptoms of General Anxiety Disorder (GAD) to return to a healthier, more high functioning emotional and spiritual life. Dealing with mental health issues has gained new respect and focus, particularly during the pandemic. Adam uses his gift, bringing scripture onto the “battlefield of the mind” and is greatly appreciated by the sufferers of anxiety. His message is that the scripture helps you get ahead before you fall behind. It highlights that faith and fear cannot co-exist and that we must “Let go and let God”!
1 Peter 5:7: “Cast all your anxieties on him, for he cares about you.”
Matthew 11:28-30 (RSV): “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
