Late Sunday Mass
a space of encounter

Initiated by Bishop Thomas Dowd, the Late Sunday Mass is an opportunity for individuals who may have missed their usual Sunday Mass at their local parish.

Over the last few years, the LSM has evolved, always remaining a point of refuge and rest for those seeking a later chance to celebrate mass. Yet, with the reappointment of Bishop Dowd to the diocese of Sault-St-Marie and the post-pandemic reality, along with the desire by Catholic Action and the diocese at large for parishioners to attend, participate and engage with their own home parishes, the LSM transformed once more, into a place of encounter for those devoted to the spirit of Catholic Action’s mission: to use our gifts in service of others.

Now, as we approach 2025, the LSM will evolve again. Catholic Action, being sensitive to the needs of the community, recognizes the value the LSM holds as “a place of encounter” for those devoted to works rooted in social justice. As we enter the New Year, Catholic Action hopes to match the LSM format to this purpose by arranging parish visits, where CA will invite those wishing to initiate, participate or grow social justice activities and service projects in their parishes, to join us at quarterly encounters hosted by Catholic Action’s LSM Team. We are keen to gather all those wishing to serve their neighbour through their time, talent and treasure in 2025. Keep an eye out for us at your local parish and reach out to us for details about our first encounter set to take place this March 2025!
